Megan Robertson and Gene "El Jefe"

"My Daddy-O, Gene, earned the nickname ‘El Jefe' (The Boss) from his coworkers at the Carlisle Area School District after dedicating 35 years of his life to teaching seventh-grade biology. Shortly after retiring, he became ‘The Boss of Babysitting.' While my husband and I returned to work, he undertook the Monday - Friday care of his youngest grandchild, my daughter Evelyn, when she was only a month old. Now, as a stage 4 prostate cancer patient, he's filling the role of ‘The Boss' at his karaoke sessions while he's at the CTCA. No matter what life throws at him, he takes charge like only a Boss could. And that is why I choose to #doitfordad.”

Shop Talk 2

Shop Talk 2 - Annual Father's Day Weekend Men's Health Fair

This annual health fair will take place on June 18 at Albany State University in Albany, GA, hosted by Phoebe Putney Health System. The event includes blood pressure and cholesterol testing as well as PSA screenings. The Healthy Fathers, Healthy Families-themed event will include a conversation in a setting that is familiar to the audience: three barber chairs and an open dialogue.

"This is a conversation that starts every day in the barbershop, and we're going to bring it to life," event organizer Darrell Sabbs said of this year's version. "Ain't no boundaries in the barbershop. Men talk about sports, they talk about girls. It's going to feel like you're in a barbershop. That's the effect I want. Everything starts with a conversation, so this is an opportunity for a conversation about your health. This is so cultural; you go there and you let your guard down. We're going to put on a show for you."

Team Bunch O Nuts is Ready to Go for 2022 Hampton Roads

On Thursday, February 24, ZERO Run/Walk team Bunch O Nuts hosted a team celebration/kick off party at Shorebreak Pizza in Virginia Beach. The turnout for the event was inspiring, especially hearing the stories of how everyone was connected and of the impact that team Bunch O Nuts has made over the years! The Pickled Pacers team captain and the race directors from Urology of VA were also in attendance. It was great to see the friendly competition getting started for 2022! Looking forward to seeing who has the largest team this year!

New Treatment for Cancer Introduced in New Orleans

The NanoKnife is a new prostate cancer treatment approved by the FDA in the summer of 2020. The technology uses electricity to kill cancer cells, sparing healthy tissue and nerves that are just millimeters away. These are nerves that control erection and urinary function. Check out the article. Thanks to Dr. Krane from Tulane Doctors of Urology, LA for providing this information.
