February is Black History Month
Did you know that Black men are twice as likely to be diagnosed with and die from prostate cancer than white men? ZERO’s new Racial Disparities Task Force is helping to bridge the gap between racial and health disparities in prostate cancer among Black men. Stay tuned for more details about new events and resources, and register for the ZERO Summit to hear directly from Task Force members discussing health equity in prostate cancer.
Until then, learn how activists like retired NBA superstar Grant Hill and his father Calvin, are raising awareness about the disease in the Black community. Open the link below and head to page 8 to read about their mission.

What the COVID-19 Vaccine Means for Prostate Cancer Patients
During this uncertain time, many questions surround the various COVID-19 vaccines available in the U.S. If you’re a prostate cancer patient or caregiver, you may have special concerns about the vaccine and whether or not it is safe for you. Visit ZERO’s COVID-19 FAQ page to learn about the vaccine and get insights on questions to ask your medical team.

On the FAQs page, you’ll find answers to questions like these and more:

Should I get the vaccine?
-

-
What is an emergency use authorization?
Demystifying Clinical Trials
Several myths surround clinical trials which leads to serious uncertainty for prostate cancer patients. A clinical trial is a research study that involves people. The studies are an investigation of an experimental treatment to see if it is safe to use and effective in fighting the disease.
As a patient, you may consider enrolling in a clinical trial to gain access to experimental new therapies or techniques that are still in the investigational stage. To help you with your decision, ZERO sat down with Dr. Charles Ryan, a member of ZERO’s Medical Advisory Board, to debunk several myths that patients often ask their physicians.
There are many investigational research trials for metastatic prostate cancer being conducted at this time by Merck. To learn more, please visit https://merckoncologyclinicaltrials.com or call 1-888-577-8839.
