2020 Events: Going Virtual!
ZERO's top priority is – and always has been – the health and well-being of prostate cancer patients and their families. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, we are continually prioritizing the health and safety of our community.
That is why all in-person events are going virtual in 2020! Thank you for your support, patience, and understanding as we work to keep our community safe.
All virtual events will offer a fun and memorable experience featuring members of the local community. ZERO hosted its first-ever Run/Walks in a virtual format on June 20—click here to see touching moments from the day, which celebrated prostate cancer patients and families in the D.C. and Salt Lake City areas. Plus, be sure to check out our brand-new #PiesforProstates challenge!
Congress Agrees: Another $110,000,000 in Research Funding
Earlier this week, the U.S. House of Representatives chose to keep funding for the Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP) at its highest-ever level: $110 million!
Soon this effort will move to the Senate, where we'll again need you to raise your voice for prostate cancer research by contacting your elected officials. But until then, be proud of your hard work and advocacy that made this possible!
With high levels of funding, the PCRP can continue to develop new breakthrough treatments and diagnostic tools that will help save the lives of the 1 in 9 men affected by this awful disease.
Your Voice Matters! How Can ZERO Support You?
In April, you and the #ZEROstrong Community were asked what your greatest needs were as the COVID-19 pandemic began rippling across the country. Your feedback directly informed how we could best support you and fellow prostate cancer patients and families.
Now three months into this crisis, we need to hear from you again. Your voice matters more than ever. By taking this quick survey, your opinions and experiences can help other patients, survivors, and caregivers.
WOW! You Helped Raise More $200,000+ for Patients Impacted by COVID-19
You did it! You and hundreds of other generous donors gave a gift to ZERO's COVID-19 Support Fund and helped raise more than $200,000 in matched funds. Because of you, direct help was ready for men and families who need it most in the face of this pandemic. Your gift helped make sure a ZERO360 case manager was there to provide immediate support for men and families in need.
And we aren't stopping now—COVID-19 is here to stay, and so is our COVID-19 Support Fund. I want you to see first-hand how your donation helped a struggling patient in need. Watch this video to hear his story.
In Case You Missed It: Understanding Risk Reduction and Treatment Options for Erectile Dysfunction
Many prostate cancer patients face challenges with sexual intimacy following their cancer treatment. Last month's webinar, “Understanding Risk Reduction and Treatment Options for Erectile Dysfunction & Other Common Side Effects of Prostate Cancer”, provides you with information about reducing, minimizing, and treating some of the side effects caused by prostate cancer and their treatments. ZERO's President and CEO Jamie Bearse led the discussion with Dr. Edward M. Soffen, a radiation oncologist at the Rutgers University School of Medicine, and Dr. Gary S. Karlin, a urologist at New Jersey Urology.
