Alarming New Report
from the American Cancer Society

new report

A new report released by the American Cancer Society is nothing short of alarming. New data shows that rates of advanced prostate cancer diagnoses are increasing by about 5% per year. Prostate cancer diagnoses and deaths are also expected to rise this year. The report also indicates that prostate cancer occurs 70% more in Black men than White men and kills two times as many Black men.

Be Part of a Fitting Event:
The Blue Jacket Fashion Show

Blue Jacket Fashion Show

For the second year in a row, zero will participate in the Blue Jacket Fashion Show which will raise funds and awareness for those affected by prostate cancer. The event was founded by fashion designer Frederick Anderson and marketing professional Laura Miller to unite the worlds of fashion, entertainment, sports, healthcare, and media to promote prostate cancer awareness, and emphasize concerns about racial disparities and underserved communities. The Seventh Annual Blue Jacket Fashion Show will take place in New York City on February 1 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Numerous designers will reimagine the traditional “blue jacket” that models will wear down the runway. You can view the event live from the webpage on the night of the event, or show your support for the prostate cancer community by donating.

This event is sponsored by Janssen Oncology.

Advocacy in Action:
zero Advocates End 2022 with a Bang

omnibus bill

Thanks to the efforts of many of you, 2022 saw significant success in zero's advocacy outreach initiatives. An omnibus bill was passed with critical funds to support the Prostate Cancer Research Program. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention received an extra million dollars for prostate cancer activities, bringing that funding to $15.2 million. Also, zero worked with the VA and our partners to implement the Veterans Prostate Cancer Treatment and Research Act, which creates a clinical pathway for prostate cancer to better ensure adequate access to care for Veterans. Find out more about these great initiatives at the link below.

You Made a Difference for Prostate Cancer Patients and Families in 2022

You Made a Difference

Thank you to all who gave generously throughout 2022 and during the holiday season. Over $450K was raised as part of our end-of-year campaign. Funds raised will ensure patients and families in need have a place to turn during their fight against prostate cancer. With these funds, zero will offer patients personalized assistance and debt relief through the zero360 comprehensive case management service. Patients will have access to more of zero's emotional support resources, including one-on-one mentorship and an expanding nationwide network of support groups. The Black Men's Prostate Cancer Initiative will reach at-risk and historically marginalized communities with education, support, webinars, a film series, and the growth of the Health Equity Task Force. These are only some of the things that you have helped make possible. Thank you for your support and for giving hope to those affected by prostate cancer.
