BREAKING NEWS: Prostate Cancer Diagnoses Expected to Rise 30% in 2021

New reporting from Cancer Facts and Figures shows that there's more to be done in the fight to end prostate cancer. But we at ZERO know — just as you do — that these numbers aren't just facts, figures, or statistics — they are men we know and love. These findings represent fathers, husbands, brothers, uncles, cousins, coaches, bosses, and friends. Together, with your help, ZERO will fight to end prostate cancer and provide critical support to the men and families who are impacted by the disease.

Below are some key takeaways from the 2021 report:

• A man will be diagnosed with prostate cancer every 2 minutes, and pass away from the disease every 15 minutes.
• In 2021, almost 3% more men will pass away from the disease than in 2020.
• New diagnoses are expected to rise by 30% in 2021.
• Rates of prostate cancer are almost 80% higher Black men than in white men, and the death rate for Black men with prostate cancer is more than double that of men in every other population.

• Since the inception of ZERO360, more than $2.7 million has been secured for patient debt relief.
• Nearly 3,300 patients and families received direct assistance, support, and resources through free case management, transportation, and mentoring.
• More than a million people were educated about prostate cancer through ZERO’s website, events, videos, and other educational efforts.
• An estimated half-million men who are now eligible to receive free prostate cancer screening coverage in Maryland thanks to new state legislation passed by ZERO advocates.

New Year Goal: Become a MENtor or Caregiver Mentor

This new year, here's two easy ways to get more involved with the prostate cancer community and give back.

• Become a Caregiver Mentor: ZERO's newest program, Caregiver Connector, pairs experienced caregivers with those new to the experience of prostate cancer caregiving. The program allows caregivers to share tips, tricks, and find a shoulder to lean on.
• Become a MENtor: ZERO's original connection-building program, MENtor, connects prostate cancer survivors with new patients. With MENtor, men can feel less alone and learn about their journey ahead.

Clinical Trials Now Registering Metastatic Prostate Cancer Patients There are many investigational clinical trials of metastatic prostate cancer being conducted at this time by Merck.
