Zero adds three top Urologists to Medical Advisory Board

Washington, D.C. – Three prominent urologists, Gary Kirsh, M.D., Nilay Gandhi, M.D., and Benjamin Lowentritt, M.D., F.A.C.S., have joined ZERO Prostate Cancer’s Medical Advisory Board, a group of leading medical professionals with diverse backgrounds and experience who are dedicated to helping men and their families fight prostate cancer.

“Drs. Kirsch, Gandhi, and Lowentritt are exemplary leaders in the urology community as well as true patient advocates,” said ZERO CEO Jamie Bearse. “Their decades of experience in the urology space will serve our Medical Advisory Board well in our mission to improve the lives of the patients and families we serve. Their expertise will help drive ZERO’s impactful patient support programs and educational resources aimed at ensuring all prostate cancer patients get the support and information they need.”

Gary Kirsh, M.D. is the President of The Urology Group, a ZERO Run/Walk Partner in Cincinnati, OH. He is a founder and former President of the Large Urology Group Practice Association (LUGPA), and is very active in urology practice advocacy and health policy on a national level. Dr. Kirsh is also the former President of the North Central Section of the American Urological Association and received his urology training at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Kirsch is on the forefront of health policy, advocating for the needs of urologists in order to provide the best possible care for their patients.

 

Nilay Ghandi Headshot

Nilay Gandhi, M.D. is a surgeon and urologist at Potomac Urology in Alexandria, VA, and serves as the Race Director of the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk – Capital Area. He is also the Vice Chair of Department of Surgery at Inova Alexandria Hospital and the co-founder of Doctomize, a physician’s electronic medical record consulting firm. He trained at the Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he developed his skills alongside many pioneers in the field. In addition to his myriad published works, Dr. Gandhi also spoke about the importance of PSA testing and early detection at a United States Preventive Services Task Force briefing on Capitol Hill this year. He believes that a physician is not only a medical professional but a patient’s best advocate, and infuses this belief in his work with ZERO on behalf of prostate cancer patients and their families.

Benjamin Lowentritt, M.D., F.A.C.S. is the Medical Director of the Prostate Cancer Care Program at Chesapeake Urology Associates, the ZERO Run/Walk founding partner in Baltimore, MD. He is also the Director of the Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery Group, and is the former President of the Baltimore City Medical Society. He specializes in minimally invasive techniques to treat urological conditions, and has been on the forefront of robotic urology procedures. He was also the first surgeon in Maryland to perform robot assisted surgery for bladder cancer. Dr. Lowentritt has also been selected as a “Super Doctor” by his peers in The Washington Post Magazine and as a “Top Doctor” in Baltimore magazine. Dr. Lowentritt is featured in several of ZERO’s educational videos to assist prostate cancer patients on their journey.
