Last weekend, David Moffett, our Atlanta Black Men's Prostate Cancer Initiative Support Group leader, hosted a truly impactful prostate cancer awareness event in his community. The event featured an esteemed clinician panel of prostate cancer experts, including our newest Medical Advisory Board member, Leanne Woods-Burnham, Ph.D.. Their participation and insights were invaluable in providing attendees with information on prostate cancer research, patient support, and navigating disparities some men face. 🩺💡 We are incredibly grateful for the support and expertise of our Medical Advisory Board and the clinicians who participated in this event. Their collaboration with Champions like David Moffett is crucial in advancing our mission to end prostate cancer.

"Aside from some skin cancers, prostate cancers are the most common cancers among men in the U.S. Nearly 270,000 people in America will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year, and it is the fourth most common cancer worldwide," says Marc Garnick. We are deeply saddened by the passing of Congressman Donald M. Payne Jr., a dedicated prostate cancer advocate and a champion for early detection. Rep. Payne was a passionate supporter of prostate cancer research funding. Just last week, in one of his final acts as a Member of Congress, he signed this year’s Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP) Dear Colleague letter. The PCRP is the most impactful research program for prostate cancer. Rep. Payne was also a co-sponsor of the PSA Screening for HIM Act. This is groundbreaking legislation that would waive prostate cancer screening cost-sharing for those at highest risk. We are grateful to Rep. Payne for the many hours he spent meeting with prostate cancer patients, survivors, and care partners on Capitol Hill. His tireless efforts to improve the lives of those affected by this disease will not be forgotten. We honor his legacy and remain committed to the fight against prostate cancer. 💙
