Dad, Steve, Dadio, Stevey P, Sauna Steve, Rainbow Packer, Old Man, Weird Guy With A Compass On His Watch, etc.
My Dad has lots of names. Most earned, some self given (Smoking Hot Santa leaves gifts for my Mom every Christmas). Recently Prostate Cancer Patient has been the most poignant title.
He has handled it amazingly well. Even when he was told the treatment he hates not only had to continue, but its effectiveness was wearing off he kept up his cheery disposition for most. He doesn't look like, act like, or live like a cancer patient. But he does feel it day in, day out. Prostate cancer has left an indelible mark on him physically and emotionally. And by no means is he in the clear.
The reasons I'm creating this donation page are:
* To celebrate that he's still alive
* Because I want to help ease my dad's pain any way I can
* He is lucky among his group of new found comrades. Many don't maintain the quality of life he has. Many don't have the chance. A man dies of prostate cancer every 20s. Our story and feelings are sadly not unique.
His cancer has sharply brought into focus that the best gift I could ever receive is more quality time with him. Please give me and Sarah that for our wedding by donating to help him and men like him.
