Why is Kay participating in ZERO cancer walk.
My husband Steve was diagnosed with aggressive Prostate cancer and treated with robotic Prosectomy at age 48. He had NO symptoms!
Kudos to his employer (GTA) for offering free PSA testing. A co-worker was also diagnosed with this dreaded disease. That same year, my father ended his battle. Now it is my mission to prevent Prostate cancer from entering a third generation in our family (our sons).
Further fueling my fire is the recent diagnosis that Steve's cancer has come back. His Prosectomy was determined to be a "Clinical Failure". Perhaps it had escaped prior to removal. We were previously told he was cancer free! Like a ghost, it is lurking somewhere. Not sure where it will show it's ugly face. Scans will reveal this monster and Steve's treatment will begin (again) in October 2017.
Do NOT wait until you are 50 to get tested!
One in eight fathers, sons, husbands, brothers, partners, and friends will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, including 5,560 men in North Carolina this year alone.
