Let's put an end to prostate cancer!
One in eight fathers, sons, husbands, brothers, partners, and friends will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Just over 4 years ago, I lost my Uncle Robert to prostate cancer. I have many fond childhood memories of cooking pancakes with him, as well as lots of impromtu singing and dancing. He was certainly my fun uncle that I always looked forward to visiting, and as his sons now have children of their own, I find myself imagining what an amazing grandfather he would have been.
Only months later, my dad decided to get screened and was diagnosed with early stages of prostate cancer. Fortunately, the cancer was treatable with surgery and my dad is now cancer free.
I will be racing in celebration of my dad's survival, in memory of my Uncle Robert and to promote prostate cancer awareness.
I'm participating in the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk because I want to put an end to prostate cancer. I am raising donations to provide much needed funds for research, education and screening, and patient assistance for prostate cancer patients in our local community.
