2017 ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk - Capital Area

10 Years Raising Prostate Cancer Awareness, Saving Lives
10 Years Raising Prostate Cancer Awareness, Saving Lives

Team Nikituk

Ten years together -- Team Nikituk with ZERO

It has been 10 years since we lost our Dad and Husband, Paul Nikituk, to prostate cancer. He died only 14 months after being diagnosed at the young age of 55 to prostate cancer, and we still miss him everyday. At his request, the Nikituk ladies have been involved with ZERO - the End of Prostate Cancer ever since - working to spread awareness about the importance of early detection and raising funds for research towards a cure. It has been a great way to keep his memory alive!

For the 10th year, Team Nikituk is once again participating in the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk at Pentagon Row on Father's Day, Sunday, June 18th, and we need your help making this our best year yet! Please support our efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution today -- no amount is too small! Join Team Nikituk this Father's Day at the Run/Walk! It is a fun, family-friendly event, a great way to honor the men in our lives, and there's even a Superhero race for the kids!  Please help us create Generation ZERO - a generation free from prostate cancer deaths so others do not have to lose a Dad, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, son to this awful disease!

Ten years together, Tara, Meghan and Cheryl -- for Paul and with Paul forever in our hearts.

We are so thankful for the sustained support from family and friends over the years. We could not have made it through this difficult time without all of you. Additionally, your support of ZERO over the years has contributed to many great breakthroughs in treatments that were not available 10 years ago, and help to give men a better quality of life and extend their life expectancy when diagnosed with the advanced disease. Progress has been made, but there is still a long way to go to end this disease. Unfortunately, we have watched close family friends battle this disease also, which only strengthens our passion to end prostate cancer.

The statistics are scary. One in eight fathers, sons, husbands, brothers, partners, and friends will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, including 4,820 men in VA this year alone. Prostate cancer is the #1 most diagnosed cancer in VA, and #2 leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S.

Thanks again for your support!

Cheryl, Tara & Meghan
