Run Like the Winded
From Chelsea -
Ten years years ago I lost my Grandfather after he put up one hell of a battle with prostate cancer, and from that day forward, my life was forever changed.
My Grandfather loved being active. Even after being diagnosed with prostate cancer he still would go on runs and would run 5k’s as well. With that said, If you know me, you’re probably well aware that I am the antithesis of someone who normally participates in 5k’s. I never thought I would have any desire to register for a 5k, but honestly — this one’s for Poppa. I know my race time won’t be anything to write home about, but I’d like to think he’d enjoy the fact that I’m doing this or at the very least, find it amusing.
So here’s some facts:
- One in eight fathers, sons, husbands, brothers, partners, and friends will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, including 5,560 men in North Carolina this year alone.
- Our team is participating in the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk because we want to put an end to prostate cancer.
- Please support our efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution today!
- Your donation provides much needed funds for research, education and awareness, and patient assistance for prostate cancer patients in our local community.
