One in eight fathers, sons, brothers, and friends will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Throughout the US alone, 161,360 will be effected this year. Many of you know my personal reason for joining the fight against prostate cancer. My wife Mykl, lost her late husband, Matt Spaeny, to prostate cancer after a valiant 21 month battle with this horrible disease. I have been given the privilege of raising his amazing boys, but they should not have lost their father at such a young age.
I've committed to raising $10,000 for ZERO The End of Prostate Cancer because I want to put an end to the suffering associated with this horrific disease and I need your support to achieve my goal! Why did I choose the Norseman Xtreme to team up with Zero this year? The 2.4 mile swim in 55 degree water, and the 112 mile bike ride over five mountain passes, ending with a 26.2 mile run that finishes at the top of Mount Gaustatoppen after a 6,069 foot climb, will undoubtedly cause me some physical discomfort and pain; however, it will pale in comparison to what these men battling prostate cancer endure every single day.
The publicity that I can generate for this particular race will put ZERO the End of Prostate Cancer and their fight in international print, digital and video media, and ultimately help us get one step closer to Generation ZERO - the first generation of men free from prostate cancer by donating to fund research, patient financial assistance, early detection, and educational programs. For more than twenty years, Zero has helped save lives, support research and new treatments, educate and test men, and unite communities to make prostate cancer a national priority. Together we’ve made a significant impact on the fight against the disease. Zero is on the front lines investing in patient support programs, research for better diagnostics, and creating awareness. No other prostate cancer charity spends more per dollar on programs – more than 94 cents.
ZERO puts every donation to good use. Please support me by making a tax-deductible contribution today! If you would like to show the world your commitment to fighting prostate cancer by having your logo on our team uniform and gear, please email me at Mat@journeychurch.tv for more information. As I cross the finish line of the upcoming Norseman Xtereme Triathlon, you'll feel proud knowing you helped keep families together and save lives.
