Incline to Inspire: 2,000 Feet a Day for Prostate Cancer
Two years ago, at 49, my life took an unexpected turn. Despite having no symptoms, a routine Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test led to a life-changing diagnosis - I had Stage 2b prostate cancer. I was otherwise healthy, which made the diagnosis even more shocking. This experience taught me the critical importance of regular screenings and early detection.
The struggle to find support and resources after my diagnosis was almost as challenging as facing the disease itself. Now, I'm turning my experience into action.
This September, I'm taking on an extraordinary challenge: climbing the Manitou Incline - recently ranked as the second most challenging tourist attraction in the world - every single day. It is a climb of nearly 2,000 feet of brutal elevation gain, daily, for 30 days straight. In total, I'll be conquering 60,000 feet in just one month, all to raise awareness and funds for ZERO Prostate Cancer, a leading non-profit fighting this disease.
My goal? $60,000 - a dollar for every foot climbed. The money raised will be able to pay for 600 PSA, or Prostate Specific Antigen blood tests, the primary method of early detection testing.
How do we get there? If 2,000 donors pledge a donation of $30, a dollar for every day I climbed, we will reach our $60,000 goal. But we are also happy to accept 30 donations of $2,000. Some fundraising humor! But really, if you want to donate $2,000...we won't stop you.
I'm climbing for a future with zero stigma, zero barriers, and zero deaths from prostate cancer. I'm climbing to ensure that no man is caught off guard by this silent disease as I was.
Join me in this uphill battle. Your support can help men find the resources and hope I once struggled to find, and promote the importance of regular PSA screenings. Together, we can reach new heights in the fight against prostate cancer.
Donate, share, and let's make every step count. Because no man should face this climb alone, and early detection can make all the difference.
Be Loud. Be Bold. Be Blue!
