Screw Cancer -- Let's Find a Cure
My cancer story:
After losing my father to cancer in 2013 and seeing its affect on my, my family and my children, I wondered what I could do to make a difference. The immediate focus after the immediate grieveing was to move forward and do everything I could to check on my own health by getting screened and all the necessary checkups that go with that. After confirmed and getting the "All Clear" at that point I thought there must me something more....
Raising Money to Find a Cure (and more):
Over the past 4 years, through the thoughtful and generous donations of my friends and colleagues, I have raised ~$7500 for Zero Cancer. This year I am hoping to raise enough funds to cross the $10,000 lifetime fundraising level!!!
General Focus On Health:
In an effort to be in overall better health, I am combining this annual initiative to raise as much money as possible for Mens health with my own quest for health. I am committed to walking 500 miles during my fundraising campaign and losing 50 pounds this year. Can we factor that into a donation? Maybe a dollar a pound? or even better, a dollar a mile?
Thank you for reading my story and I hope you will help - every dollar counts.
One in nine fathers, sons, brothers, partners, and friends will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, including more than 174,000 throughout the U.S. this year alone.
This November, I'm putting down the razor and picking up the cause by participating in the Grow & Give campaign with ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer. Together, we can end the suffering of prostate cancer, but I need your support!
Your donation will help fund research, patient programs that go directly to helping men and their families, free testing, educational programs, and more.
Please support me by making a tax-deductible contribution today! You'll feel proud knowing that you're helping keep families together and saving lives.
ZERO has been on the front lines fighting for a cure for more than twenty years. Together, we’ve made a significant impact on the fight against the disease. ZERO is also rated 4-stars by Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. Learn more about the progress we are making!
ZERO offers comprehensive support for prostate cancer patients. Starting with education, we provide millions of men and families with disease information through our website, printed materials, videos, and webinars.
Our ZERO360 team of experienced case managers help patients access financial resources, cut through insurance and Medicare red tape, and find emotional support. For men with advanced prostate cancer who could not afford treatment, our financial assistance program provided grants to more than 48,000 men.
We pioneered mobile testing for prostate cancer, alerting men across the nation to lifesaving information and reducing prostate cancer mortality rates through early detection. We continue to support early detection and free testing with local partners across the country.
The ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk Series is the nation’s largest event series dedicated to men’s health. For more than a decade, the series has helped raise awareness and unite men and their families across the country as a powerful force in the fight against prostate cancer.
ZERO helps lead the national dialogue on prostate cancer through our awareness campaigns, social media, website, and blog, Journey to ZERO. Our regional chapters are the boots on the ground to engage local communities and encourage grassroots action.
Advocacy & Research
As the national leader in prostate cancer advocacy, we protect and grow federal research funding that has led to several key prostate cancer treatments for extending and improving the lives of men. Our annual Summit brings together hundreds of advocates from around the country to make prostate cancer a priority within our federal government, our state legislatures, and our communities.
Strategic PlanOur Journey to ZERO Strategic Plan is a guide for making progress in saving lives and keeping families together. It reaffirms our mission and outlines our resolve in the face of this deadly disease. It commits us to expanding our reach into local communities to work in concert with our constituents, advocating for increased and better directed research funds, and providing education and support to improve patient outcomes.
It is our principal responsibility to illustrate the future we seek through our networks, events, and digital outreach. And it is our ambition to become the standard by which other nonprofits will be measured. Join us on the journey to ZERO prostate cancer!
