Yet another good year - but others are less fortunate
Many issues in life are overwhelming, and getting diagnosed w/Cancer is one of those. I've been very very fortunate. This month is Movember, each year we have an opportunity to bring focus to Prostate Cancer.
This week - I was given good news and I'm now off the 6mo surveillance and have "graduated" to annual. All great news. Many of my friends and collogues that are part of the "brotherhood" aren't as fortunate. I'm not off the hook for 10yrs statistically.
Prostate cancer is terribly underfunded compared to Breast Cancer because men don't talk about it. They don't engage because of the personal nature of the problem.
On that note, last year many of you were very generous - so generous that you "inadvertently" got me sent to Washington DC to work w/key congressional leaders on funding. I've been asked to go again this year. We, as a team at ZERO, were able to garnish an additional $10m in funding - through our efforts - for a total funding level of $110m. Most of the people I met at ZERO were wives doing a yoeman's battle for their men. It was inspiring and they were wonderful people.
Your donation will help fund research, patient programs that go directly to helping men and their families, free testing, educational programs, and more. This year - after the 1st $500 of donations, above the inital $500 I started the fund with - I'll match that funding. Additionally my new company Dassian Strategic Solutions will match my personal funding. So lets drive this to where the funding level deserves to be - so we can give other men a fighting chance, help them w/the high cost of medical bills, and get screening done early so more men can be as fortunate as I have been so far.
