Fighting prostate cancer, one step at a time
I was able to raise a fair amount of money last year for my participation in the Greensboro ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk. I'm hoping to do even better this year.
I was diagnosed with low grade prostate cancer in 2007, at age 51.
Frank Zappa died of advanced prostate cancer at age 52.
Dan Fogleberg was dying of advanced prostate cancer, after it seemed his cancer was in remission.
When I was diagnosed, I'd been shown a black box, and a burning fuse had just disappeared into that box.
I had no way of knowing how long the fuse was.
I had no way of knowing what was at the end of the fuse.
My only choice was to have the black box taken out, and that was not without its own problems.
We need many things. We need to be able to identify indolent prostate cancers as soon as they're detected (that is, nothing at the end of the fuse.) We need to be able to identify prostate cancers that will become a killer. We need a better cure than surgery, radiation and chemo'therapy'
F*** Cancer. Research into curing prostate cancer will help in curing all cancers.
Do you have a father, brother, son? Give money to help fight this cancer, this cancer that affects as many men as breast cancer affects women.
