The event will now be held through the Charge Running App, where you’ll be able to run/walk together at the same time on whatever course you choose. Get started today!

2 Take action to fundraise: commit to a fitness challenge, participate in a cooking class over Zoom, sell t-shirts or yard signs in your neighborhood. The only limit is your imagination!
3 Download the Charge Running App and join us as we run/walk together as a #ZEROStrong community on Sunday, October 17, 2021. There are several other dates to choose from if this date doesn't work for you. It's a great way to celebrate and spread awareness, while also maintaining social distancing.

About the Virtual ZERO Run/Walk
I look forward to the Run/Walk every year. What can I expect this year since it's virtual only?
This year’s virtual run/walk option will be held through the Charge Running App (available on Apple and Android). Everyone will run/walk on the same date/time, Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. ET. There are other dates to choose from if this one doesn't work for you. You create your own course and your stats are tracked using the app so you can race against other participants virtually. Using the Charge Running App virtual event there will be a real time DJ playing music as you run/walk, a leaderboard with live result updates, and chat room to interact with other participants.
Virtual participants are still eligible to earn all fundraising rewards! All reward deadlines are based on the original event date.
How do I download the Charge Running App?
In your smartphone's app store search "Charge Running" (available for Apple and Android) and look for an orange app icon.
Do I have to use the Charge Running App? Do I have to run at all?
I’m not a runner, how else can I get active for prostate cancer?
Fundraise by taking action for the cause and spreading the word! Go live on social media and invite your friends to watch and join you in the fun. You could host a simple stretching session, a trivia game or virtual movie night, lead a workout class, or dye your hair, do take the #PiesforProstates challenge!
You can also set up shop to get active! Start your own fundraiser -- whether it’s a lemonade stand, selling your own artwork or clothing, let your friends know that proceeds will benefit prostate cancer patients in need during the COVID-19 crisis.
However you get active and take action, you’ll be spreading crucial awareness for the cause and making direct support possible for patients and families affected by prostate cancer. Share how you’re getting active by posting a photo on social media using the hashtag #ZEROstrong.
There’s so much going on in the world right now. Why is prostate cancer still important?
One in eight American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and the funds raised are invested around the country to provide research for new treatments, free prostate cancer testing, and educate men and families about prostate cancer. Your fundraising provides assistance to cancer patients who are at a high-risk of contracting COVID-19 due to already weakened immune systems. Learn more about what ZERO is doing to help the prostate cancer community during this time at zerocancer.org/coronavirus.
How much of the funds raised go to patients in need? How are the donations used?
100% of donations go to ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer, a registered 501(c)(3) organization (tax id 59-3400922).
The money raised by the event helps drive free prostate cancer testing throughout the country as well as in the communities of each Run/Walk location. Grants are also awarded in race communities wherever they’ll have the most local impact on new programs, patient support, early detection, and awareness efforts.
On a national level, your gift is invested to educate men about their risks, as well as to fund direct support for patients and their families. Finally, your dollars enable national efforts to protect and expand research funding and availability of care for prostate cancer testing and treatments.Additionally, funds raised during COVID-19 will help patients in dire need due to the economic and health consequences of the virus.
ZERO is the only national prostate cancer charity to receive the highest-possible 4-star rating for financial responsibility from Charity Navigator, and meets all 20 standards of accountability as an accredited charity member of the Better Business Bureau. And no other prostate cancer charity spends more per dollar on programs - more than 85 cents.
Find out more about how the money you raise helps end prostate cancer in the impact section of this website.
Are all donations tax-deductible? How can I receive an IRS tax receipt for my donation?
Yes. All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. If the donation was made online, the tax receipt will be emailed to the email address provided. If you donated via check, you can request a tax receipt by emailing email@example.com.
I think my company matches employees’ charitable donations. How do I get this started?
When making your donation, please enter your company name in the matching gifts search tool. We'll have some information on whether or not your company matches, but please make sure to follow-up with your company to get this process started. If you have questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I continue to collect donations after the virtual run/walk?
Absolutely! Participants can fundraise up until two weeks after the event to be eligible for fundraising rewards.

How much does it cost to register?

Is there a fundraising minimum to participate in the Run/Walk?
No. There is no fundraising minimum, but we need your help to raise funds to provide programs that support prostate cancer patients and families in need during this dire time. Please consider making a self-donation or fundraise at least $100 to provide much needed support to men and families during COVID-19. All participants that fundraise at least $50 will have an option to receive a 2021 Run/Walk shirt.
All registered participants receive a personal fundraising page, fundraising coaching, and many tools, guides, and other resources to help you. To receive fundraising tips, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
I created a fundraiser on Facebook for ZERO before registering for the run/walk. Can I connect that fundraiser to my run/walk fundraising page?
No. Participants must register on the ZERO Run/Walk website first, then create the Facebook Fundraiser from their Participant Center. We cannot tie an existing Facebook Fundraiser to a new registration. If you have already created a Fundraiser and selected ZERO as the beneficiary, donations will be sent to ZERO as general donations.
To request that donations be moved to credit your run/walk registration, email email@example.com. To begin receiving credit for new donations, please close your existing fundraiser and set up a new one through the Participant Center.
I don’t want to donate online. Can I donate another way?
We can take donations via the phone or via mail as well. Call ZERO at 202-303-3110, Monday Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. EST, and we can process a credit card payment over the phone. All mailed donations should appear on your page within two weeks of being received by ZERO. If you do not see your donations on your page, please email ZERO at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk is a time to come together, raise funds and sharing hope to declare one number above others: ZERO. Your participation makes a real difference in the lives of men and families fighting prostate cancer. Your presence at the run/walk will show the love to patients, and help provide emotional and financial supports for men and families in their time of need.
The funds raised from Portland Run/Walk will provide support to patients through financial and emotional support programs and resources. With COVID-19, these funds are more critical than ever, as they'll help in-need patients who are struggling through this crisis. YOU can make a difference for patients in your area! At ZERO, 85 cents of every dollar donated goes directly into our life-saving programs. No prostate cancer charity is more efficient at turning donations into a tangible impact in your local community, and we're the only ones with a best-possible 4 star rating from Charity Navigator.
With the rise of COVID-19, the nation's only event series solely dedicated to prostate cancer knew that canceling the series was not an option, as the prostate cancer community needed more support than ever before. Every day, COVID-19 poses many challenges for vulnerable and immunocompromised cancer patients. ZERO's events will offer a beacon of hope and a way to make a difference for patients and their families who are struggling medically, financially, and emotionally.

Who You're Helping
"As a prostate cancer patient facing a recurrence, I was already scared. But then I lost my job and health care due to COVID-19. I felt hopeless. My doctor told me about ZERO360, and it was the best phone call I ever made. The case manager helped me secure financial support that would cover my treatment and get me back on track. Without ZERO360, I’m not sure where I’d be." - Tim, Stage IV Prostate Cancer Patient
