For the Love of Art
I still remember his gigantic grin as the blue-sparkly speedboat splashed through the waves of Long Lake. The mist of the water collected on my face and I'd yell “faster!” to my grandpa and the faster he went, the harder I'd laugh.
We'd drive for hours to see my grandparents in Michigan and each summer, we'd spend days together out on the lake. When Art Franke, my grandfather died from prostate cancer, his smile and the speedboat was the memory I kept coming back to in my head.
I want other girls to have their moments in the sun with their grandpas; laughing and bouncing around on a perfect summer day. That's why I'm captaining team “For the Love of Art” at this year's ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in Boston on September 8. With your help, we can advance research for new treatments, get men tested early, and get much needed programs and support to men and their families in the fight against prostate cancer now.
At ZERO, 86 cents on the dollar goes right to programs and patients so join me in person on September 8 or make a donation to the team.
