I always knew what my Dad, HAL, meant to me and my family. I never really knew how much he meant to others until he passed away last February. While it would have been great to truly appreciate that while he was with us, it was amazing to see. The outpouring of support and love was a bit overwhelming. His playful humor, belly laugh and generous spirit sure attracted people, but I just didn't realize the magnitude.
The key word is generous. He and my mom, Betty, have always given disproportionately to what they had. Whether it was time or money, they always made sure that they helped those who needed it.
For that reason, I would like to lean on my Dad's spirit and help others who are battling the disease that took him from those who loved him. It has been 8 years since I last did one of these races, so in addition to a donation I am going to need an abundance of moral support and encouragement. There is a big difference between the 37 year old me and the 45 year old me.
With your help, HAL & Betty's example, I think it can be done.
Thank you in advance for your support!
