Running for Prostate Cancer Awareness
As many of you know, my dad lost his battle to prostate cancer in 2016. It was one of the toughest times that my family and I have ever been through. However, during his fight, we all learned a few things. One, this disease affects hundreds of thousands of families every single year. And two, we learned that this cancer can be treated if detected early on. I am running the 2019 NYC Marathon to not only raise funds to cure this disease, but to also bring awareness to my friends, family, colleagues, friends of friends, etc. I know a cure is right around the corner, and every dollar raised will help those fighting that same fight my dad fought. I also want this to be an important message for everyone to have their loved ones – brothers, dads, boyfriends, husbands..., see their doctor and get checked. My dad’s doctors always said it's easy to "nip this in the bud", but that doesn't happen without getting tested… which should happen earlier than you probably think. Any dollar amount will help us get closer to a cure but sharing this will also hopefully help someone tackle this disease earlier rather than later, or even better altogether.
