Jon's Run for Prostate Cancer
Some of you may know that I was selected for entry in the 2019 TCS NYC Marathon through their lottery system. I will be running 26.2 miles through all five boroughs of New York City on November 3rd and have teamed up with TeamZERO in an effort to raise funds to end prostate cancer.
In 2015 my husband's physical condition deteriorated quickly with what we thought was sciatica. After months of chiropractic visits, and struggling to even eat, it was clear something else was going on. We finally went to the hospital where Doug was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer. PSA numbers were around 250. The doctors told us he would most likely never return home as he had also become severely anemic and was suffering from kidney failure. The oncology team at Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit stepped in and placed Doug in a clinical trial that was able to effectively put the cancer into a state of remission through a combination of oral chemotherapy and testosterone blockers. It has been over four years now and we are thankful that Doug's PSA numbers have remained largely undetectable.
While I do not need these funds to guarantee my entry into the race,
please consider a tax-deductible contribution today. I will dedicate a mile in your honor!
