Every dollar helps run laps around this disease!
Life has a way of coming full circle, especially in running shoes.
In the summer of 1997, my arrival inspired my Dad to lace up his running shoes and get healthy for his growing family. Little did he know that this decision would lead to a life-saving discovery. A routine doctor’s visit for shin splints uncovered a far more serious threat: prostate cancer. At just eight weeks old, I became an unwitting witness to my dad's diagnosis – a moment we faced together at the doctor’s office.
Fast forward 27 years as I prepare to run the New York City Marathon for ZERO Prostate Cancer on Nov 3rd, I find myself dealing with shin splints of my own – an ironic reminder of where this journey began. Thanks to organizations like ZERO, which tirelessly raise awareness and support, my dad is a two-time survivor. He'll be there to cheer me on as I conquer those 26.2 miles, a living testament to the power of early detection and the impact of prostate cancer charities. Every step I take, shin splints and all, is a tribute to him and a stride towards a future where no family has to face this challenge alone.
