About the ZERO Run/Walk
I look forward to the Run/Walk every year. What can I expect at this year's Run/Walk?
We will be hosting our traditional in-person Run/Walks nationwide. We will also continue to have a virtual option for anyone who can’t attend in-person.
I'm not sure I want to participate in person. What does the virtual participation option look like?
This year's virtual run/walk option will be held through the RunGo app (available on Apple and Android). We'll all run/walk on the same date/time . You create your own course and your stats are tracked using the app so you can race against other participants virtually.
It's a great option for those that may not feel comfortable attending an in-person run/walk. Virtual participants are still eligible to earn all fundraising rewards!
I'm not a runner, how else can I take action to ZERO out prostate cancer?
Don’t worry, you don’t need to run if that is not your thing. What’s important is that we are spreading the word to ZERO out prostate cancer. You can make your impact by fundraising in your own way. Post on social media and invite your friends to follow along and join you in the fun
You can also set up shop to make an impact! Start your own fundraiser — whether it's a lemonade stand or selling your own artwork or clothing, let your network know that proceeds will benefit prostate cancer patients in need.
However you take action, you'll be spreading crucial awareness for the cause and making direct support possible for patients and families affected by prostate cancer. Share how you're making an impact by posting a photo on social media using the hashtag #EndProstateCancer.
There's so much going on in the world right now. Why is prostate cancer still important?
One in eight American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and the funds raised are invested around the country to provide research for new treatments, free prostate cancer testing, support patients emotionally and financially and educate men and families about prostate cancer. As diagnoses rise, more patients and families than ever are taking advantage of our direct patient support programs, making the need for funds to sustain the demand critically important.
How much of the funds raised go to patients in need? How are the donations used?
100% of donations go to ZERO Prostate Cancer, a registered 501(c)(3) organization (tax id 59-3400922).
The money raised by the event helps drive free prostate cancer testing throughout the country as well as in the communities of each Run/Walk location. We are proud to award grants in select communities where we can have the most impact on new programs, patient support, early detection, and awareness efforts.
Here are five ways your gift makes a difference on a national scale:
- Financial Support: Your support connects patients in need with personalized solutions to alleviate the many financial stressors of their diagnosis including treatment costs, transportation, insurance navigation, and more.
- Research: Your gift advances prostate cancer research to discover new treatments and diagnostics.
- Knowing risk factors and the importance of early detection saves lives and your gift makes education and awareness efforts happen nationwide.
- Emotional Support: Your gift ensures patients and caregivers have support through in-person and virtual support groups and mentors across the country.
- Health Equity: Your gift helps remove barriers and provide critical support for those at the highest risk for the disease who for way too long have suffered inequities.
ZERO is the only national prostate cancer charity to receive the highest-possible 4-star rating for financial responsibility from Charity Navigator, and meets all 20 standards of accountability as an accredited charity member of the Better Business Bureau. And no other prostate cancer charity spends more per dollar on programs — more than 85 cents.
Are all donations tax-deductible? How can I receive an IRS tax receipt for my donation?
Yes. All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. If the donation was made online, the tax receipt will be emailed to the email address provided. If you donated via check, you can request a tax receipt by emailing races@zerocancer.org.
I think my company matches employees' charitable donations. How do I get this started?
When making your donation, please enter your company name in the matching gifts search tool. We'll have some information on whether or not your company matches, but please make sure to follow-up with your company to get this process started. If you have questions, please email races@zerocancer.org.
Can I continue to collect donations after the walk?
Absolutely! Participants can fundraise up until two weeks after the event to be eligible for fundraising rewards.

How do I register?
Click the button below and follow the steps to register. If you have any issues, please feel free to give us a call at (202) 303-3110.
Do I have to register to participate?
Yes, in order to create a great Run/Walk experience for all attendees we need to know if we should expect you. Once registered, every participant will sign a standard waiver through the official registration process. Even if you're participating virtually, your registration will help us get you prepared for the event.
How much does it cost to register?
It's free to register! Participants that fundraise $50 (either through a self-donation or raised through family and friends) by event day will receive a run/walk shirt at the event. If you are signed up as a virtual participant your shirt will be mailed to you after the virtual event.
I already registered for free, but want to get an event shirt. How can I do that?

How do I register family members or friends online?
To register other participants, begin your own registration and enter your details. When you get to your "Registration Summary", you will see a "Register Additional Person" button; click this button to add other participants, including children or other dependents for whom you have the legal authority to sign our liability waiver.
Should I start a team or join as an individual?
If you have a friend or family member joining you, please start a team. If you are attending alone, please join as an individual. There is no minimum requirement for team size.
I accidentally registered as an individual and meant to join or start a team. What do I do?
No problem! If you would like to be added to a team or start your own team, simply send an email to races@zerocancer.org with your name, team name, and what city's race you're taking part in.
Fundraising FAQ
Is there a fundraising minimum to participate in the Run/Walk?
No. There is no fundraising minimum, but we need your help to raise funds to provide programs that support prostate cancer patients and families. Please consider making a goal of at least $100 to help get to Generation ZERO, the first generation free from prostate cancer. All participants that fundraise at least $50 will have an option to receive a Run/Walk shirt.
All registered participants receive a personal fundraising page, fundraising coaching, and many tools, guides, and other resources to help you. To receive fundraising tips, email races@zerocancer.org.
I created a fundraiser on Facebook for ZERO before registering for the run/walk. Can I connect that fundraiser to my run/walk fundraising page?
No. Participants must register on the ZERO Run/Walk website first, then create the Facebook Fundraiser from their Participant Center. We cannot tie an existing Facebook Fundraiser to a new registration. If you have already created a Fundraiser and selected ZERO as the beneficiary, donations will be sent to ZERO as general donations.
To request that donations be moved to credit your run/walk registration, email races@zerocancer.org. To begin receiving credit for new donations, please close your existing fundraiser and set up a new one through the Participant Center.
I don't want to donate online. Can I donate another way?
We can take donations via the phone or via mail as well. Call ZERO at (202) 303-3110, Monday Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. EST, and we can process a credit card payment over the phone. If mailing a check, please be sure to indicate the city name of the event, and the name of the team or individual whose fundraising efforts it is supporting. Checks should be sent to:
ZERO Prostate Cancer

Please send a personal check covering the amount, along with a corresponding donation form to ZERO. We will be able to credit your donors for their generosity if you include their contact information. If this is not possible, you can always bring the cash donations and donation forms to the race.
I received a donation, but don't see it on my fundraising page?
All mailed donations should appear on your page within two weeks of being received by ZERO. If you do not see your donations on your page, please email ZERO at races@zerocancer.org.
I want to fundraise, but I don't know how. Where should I start?
We encourage all participants to customize their page with their own photo and story of why you're participating. You can also send emails to friends and family, and easily track your donations. Please view our tips and tricks page for more information. You can also email ZERO's National Events Team at races@zerocancer.org for assistance and ideas.

The ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk is a time to come together, raise funds and sharing hope to declare one number above others: ZERO. Your participation makes a real difference in the lives of men and families fighting prostate cancer. Your presence at the run/walk will show the love to patients, and help provide emotional and financial supports for men and families in their time of need.
The funds raised from Kansas City Run/Walk will provide support to patients through financial and emotional support programs and resources. With COVID-19, these funds are more critical than ever, as they'll help in-need patients who are struggling through this crisis. YOU can make a difference for patients in your area! At ZERO, 85 cents of every dollar donated goes directly into our life-saving programs. No prostate cancer charity is more efficient at turning donations into a tangible impact in your local community, and we're the only ones with a best-possible 4 star rating from Charity Navigator.
With the rise of COVID-19, the nation's only event series solely dedicated to prostate cancer knew that canceling the series was not an option, as the prostate cancer community needed more support than ever before. Every day, COVID-19 poses many challenges for vulnerable and immunocompromised cancer patients. ZERO's events will offer a beacon of hope and a way to make a difference for patients and their families who are struggling medically, financially, and emotionally.

Who You're Helping
"As a prostate cancer patient facing a recurrence, I was already scared. But then I lost my job and health care due to COVID-19. I felt hopeless. My doctor told me about ZERO360, and it was the best phone call I ever made. The case manager helped me secure financial support that would cover my treatment and get me back on track. Without ZERO360, I'm not sure where I'd be." - Tim, Stage IV Prostate Cancer Patient
